Beating the golf drum for East Africa

Scott - Kenya - Hot air balloon

At Ascot Tours we go the distance to craft unique African golf and safari tours

In the recent BMW Championship, there were 26 drives over 400 yards in round 1. Staggering isn’t it?

Somehow it got me thinking about Ascot Tours and how many times we’ve gone the distance with crafting and working at our incentives that are designed to make our African golf and safari tours even more attractive, helping you to encourage bookings. Anyone got a measuring tape?

This brings me to a spot on the eastern side of the continent’s map – Kenya

I’ve been beating the Kenya drum for many years, from the golf to the safaris to the beach to the people. There is just something that makes me want to return time after time. The huge numbers of animals and huge spaces always make me catch my breath. A hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara, and having a huge elephant bull walk towards you with Kilimanjaro peeking out from the clouds behind him are moments I have all experienced.

My best East Africa safari moment was when a silverback gorilla came up behind me while in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. He gently put his hand on my shoulder as I was watching the females and babies. What seemed like ages was less than 30 seconds, and as he moved off, the ranger said he was just telling me that he saw me, was happy if I stayed where I was, and that I was no threat to him. It truly was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

This week’s newsletter is all about golf and safari in East Africa and Kenya

There is more on the East Africa Golfing Safari (25 September – 6 October 2025) that I’ll be hosting next year as well as suggestions on add-on excursions to extend your trip, including other golf courses and accommodation options in Kenya and Uganda.

We look forward to sharing many more incredible experiences with you.
