Fancourt Golf Resort - South Africa's Golfing Mecca

< >
Fancourt is South Africa's premier golf resort, with all three courses ranked within the Top 20 in the country. The resort itself is the number one golf resort in the Middle East and Africa, making it a world-class experience from beginning to end. From a simple family home in 1859, the estate now sprawls over 600 hectares with world-class facilities that breathe five-star luxury and discrete old-world charm.

Since opening in the early 90s, both Outeniqua and Montagu courses have matured into two of the finest 18-hole parklands layouts in the country. The Links was added later in 2000, an awe-inspiring example of incredible detailing, which the legendary Gary Player acknowledges as his design masterpiece. Inspired by the classic fairways of Ireland and Scotland, The Links, rated number one in South Africa and among the Top 10 in the world, was transformed from an abandoned airstrip. It is one of the very few true links-type courses in a country dominated by parklands. This walking-only course features multiple tee boxes on each of its 18 holes to compensate for challenges posed by the coastal George winds. The signature par-4 15th hole, popularly known as “Roon the Bend” is one of the few doglegs on the course, playing from right to left. Montagu has recently undergone major renovations with two completely new holes - the 1st and the 9th. The signature hole is undoubtedly the par-3 17th, which is very similar to the 12th hole at Augusta National, home to the US Masters. Although Outeniqua is mostly regarded as the easier of the two parklands, it features water hazards on as many as 11 holes, including four of the last five, and is known to surprise even seasoned players with its deceptive appearance.

The resort features a warm-up area along with a full-length range for chipping and bunker practice. These apart, a TaylorMade Performance Lab backed by PGA professionals, with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance the game, there are two well-stocked pro shops, with a large inventory of accessories and clothing for golfers to play the part. And for foodies, there is a range of fantastic restaurants at Fancourt, from a casual experience at the Club Lounge & Bar, to La Cantina Italian fare, for relaxed family dining, and the gastronomic flagship of the Manor House, Henry White's, for classic European dining and an award-winning wine list.
